Welcome to caravanonthesevern.co.uk

Hi, I'm Steve Williams and welcome to the Site. Here you will find plenty of tips on fishing the majestic Severn for barbel and I'll outline my approach on how to tackle the river.

Due to my postings on angling web forums like Barbel Fishing World, Fishing Magic plus a couple of others and due to the fact I live in Bridgnorth Shropshire, I get many anglers contacting me each season asking me for information regarding cheap accommodation on or close to the River Severn and information about the fishing in these areas. The enquires general come from small groups of friends who fancy a few days Barbel fishing, or families where dad is looking for somewhere to bring the family, with the intention of doing some Barbel fishing during evenings and early mornings, with days out with the family to many attractions around the area.

I have been passing on information about camp-sites/B+B's and fishing on the River Severn for a number of years now and the general consensus seems to be that B+B's are too restrictive as you are not allowed back in during the day, hotels/static caravans are very expensive and tents aren't the most comftable or secure.

I decided that I could offer my touring caravan, with a list of sites available for booking along the River Severn for a fraction of the cost of hotels and static's but with the same flexibility.

The Caravan
Side view of the Caravan

The caravan is a 5 berth, 1991 ABI Award Nightstar. It is 21ft long giving it an internal length of about 17ft. It has a new full length awning, new upholstery, curtains and vinyl wood effect flooring.

The caravan has a bathroom, with fitted cassette toilet, shower and drop down sink, gas cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, gas heater, kettle, toaster and hot and cold running water.

I also include all cutlers and pots and pans. I can also supply a small portable TV, DVD player and playstation1 (with a small selection of games) should you require them.

We have owned it for the last 5 years, taking many fantastic holiday's all over the UK, and it is in good condition for its age.

The caravan will have had a full gas and electrical inspection every 12 months, to ensure that it is in full working order.

The Layout

At the front of the caravan there are two large side fitted seating areas at the front with a removable table, which can sit up to 6 people. This converts into a large double bed. At the rear there is a smaller 4 seater settee, which again converts into a double bed, and a fold away bunk bed above.

The rear bedroom/seating area had a cantilever door to separate this from the rest of the caravan.

While you are on Holiday

The waste water collection canister and a fresh/drinking water "aquarole" will both require attention during you holiday. The cassette toilet, if used will require emptying.

The van has a 12V hook up (lead supplied), and most sites have a hook up facility, this means things like TV/DVD players, hairdryers, radios, toasters, kettles etc can be used while on your holiday, but the amount of power that the caravan can use is governed by the site's ampage.

I will advise you once you have selected a site, as to how many electric items can/should be used during your stay.

I will offer you a full demonstration upon your arrival, but a full glossy information pack will be available within the caravan to advise you on the day to day running, and to help you with any questions you should have during your holiday.

There will also be information on "things to do" around the area. I will also be available via phone, should you need any information.

Caravan Sites

All the sites I have chosen, have one thing in common, they are either close to or right on the River Severn. Fishing is either available on cheap day ticket or free, and many are close by waters controlled by Birmingham Anglers Association or other cheap club books. I can offer advise/information regarding the fishing on most of the Sites.

Some I have fished or fished close by, so please discuss your needs. I can offer advice on tackle and bait, and even supply rod's/reels, tackle and bait if you require. Some sites are more "child friendly" than others, so please discuss you needs/requirements with me before booking.

The Caravan will be fully set up for your arrival, and once you leave, I will return and dismantle and remove the caravan from the site.

Any breakages or damage to the caravan or awning MUST to be reported to me immediately.

All you need to do is arrive on the agreed date, and bring with you food, clothing and bedding (we recommend sleeping bag's, pillows, towels and toiletry items).

Most sites have a pub either on the site or close by, and a small convenient shop is never far away.
